Camp Winaukee is a private seven-week boys' camp on Lake Winnipesaukee in the mountains of New Hampshire. Winaukee has are two campuses. The Island camp has approximately 140 campers ages 13-15. The Mainland camp has approximately 230 campers ages 7-12.

The atmosphere at each of the two age-appropriate camps is unique. The boys on each campus set the tone and mood of their camp. The camps are run essentially separate, and each has its own facilities, playing fields, courts, bunks, playhouse and dining hall.

Founded in 1920, Winaukee enjoys a reputation as one of the premier sports and adventure camps in America. We take pride in the quality of our staff and our commitment to instructional programming and character development.

Counselors live in the bunks with the boys. A ratio of 10 campers to 2 counselors is typical, with 10:3 being the case with the youngest boys. Counselors are responsible for the conduct of the bunk and working and living with the boys to ensure a great summer is had by all. Counselors must be fun-loving, patient and genuinely concerned for the welfare and development of young people.

Winaukee is an instructional camp. During the day, there are six activity periods when sports and other activities are instructed. We have frequent intercamp competitions with other Lakes Region camps in Maine and New Hampshire. Winaukee's athletic program is mildly competitive, values good sportsmanship and includes all campers in competitions. It is important to provide quality instruction so that all campers are equipped with the skills and confidence to be able to play sports and enjoy the experience.

Winaukee is more than a premium boys' sports camp. It is more than a spectacular location on Lake Winnipesaukee. It is a culture of good values that is passed down from generation to generation. The Winaukee community embraces a core philosophy set forth on the six branches of the Winaukee "Tree of Values": Enthusiasm, Loyalty, Sportsmanship, Friendship, Achievement and Cooperation. These values are instilled in Winaukee campers through a sports and adventure program and unique traditions that have been at the heart of Winaukee's 85 year history. In the words of one 11-year-old camper, "The Tree of Values is a life lesson; it prepares you for the real world."

Winaukee campers feel that they are part of something special, meaningful and bigger than themselves. It was not surprising to hear another camper's spontaneous expression: "Winaukee is in my soul."

Camp Winaukee Is Not:
  • A great place to party every night.
  • A dorm.
